Fan favourite returns to Belfast Giants for new campaign
The forward is set for a seventh season with the team
Belfast Giants player David Goodwin is set to extend his stay, as he re-signs with the team for the 2026/27 season.
This will mark the St. Louis born forward’s seventh season with the Giants, having first arrived in 2019/20 campaign. A leader on and off the ice, Goodwin has served as captain for three seasons during his time in Belfast.
After departing Belfast for Spanish side Club Hielo Jaca at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Goodwin returned to Belfast during the 2023/24 campaign.
The former Penn State University player has also spent time in Poland with Cracovia Krakow.
It was in the 2021/22 campaign that Goodwin was appointed Giants captain for the first time.
Over the two seasons that followed, Goodwin tallied 158 points in 138 games in all competitions, guiding the Giants to five trophies, including the club’s first-ever domestic treble in 2022/23.
Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, Adan Keefe said: "Goody epitomises what it means to be a Giant.
"He’s a winner through and through and truly understands what it means to be a leader.
"Throughout his time in Belfast, Goody has played a big part in building the culture and high expectations that flow from top to bottom in this organisation and having him back for another season gives us a real edge straight out the gate."
David Goodwin added: "I am delighted to be returning to Belfast for a seventh season. I’m very proud of the winning culture we’ve created here, and I am as eager as ever to bring more trophies to this great city."
