Storm Bram is on the way as strong winds expected to hit Northern Ireland

Author: Emma DicksonPublished 8th Dec 2025

The Met Office has warned Storm Bram may cause some disruption tomorrow (Tues 9th Dec), particularly across western Northern Ireland.

Gusts around 50-60 mph are possible fairly widely, and potentially in excess of 70 mph for some exposed headlands and high ground.

Forecasters have warned "there is a small chance of even stronger winds should the area of low pressure pass closer to Ireland."

A yellow weather warning has been issued from 9am to 9pm tomorrow for strong winds.

What should I expect?

⚠️ Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected with a chance of cancellations

⚠️Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges and a chance some roads and bridges could close

⚠️Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves

⚠️There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris

⚠️There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs

⚠️There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
