Temperatures expected to drop this weekend in Northern Ireland
Last updated 4 hours ago
After a fortnight of sunshine and blue skies, the Met Office has suggested a change is coming, with slightly cooler weather underway.
High pressure has been the dominant feature of the UK's weather pattern in recent weeks, bringing prolonged spells of sunshine, light winds and very limited rainfall.
However winds switching to a northerly direction by Friday mean that parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland will see a notable drop in temperatures.
Northern Ireland's five day forecast
Today: A few shallow mist and fog patches possible around dawn soon clearing. Otherwise another dry day with plenty of sunshine. Very warm or hot. Light winds. Maximum temperature 28 °C.
Tonight: A fine end to the day and staying dry and mainly clear overnight. Some low cloud possibly forming around the North Coast. Minimum temperature 12 °C.
Friday: Any low cloud soon clearing during the morning with bright and sunny spells. Temperatures down a bit, but still warm or very warm in any sunshine. Light northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 24 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Mainly dry and settled. Cloudy or bright with sunny spells developing. Feeling warm in any sunshine. Light or moderate northwest winds.
How is the weather looking for the rest of the summer?
In a statement the Met Office commented that: "As the high-pressure becomes less dominant, there will be an increasing chance of weather fronts, showers and thunderstorms reaching parts of the UK. However, confidence in the timing, location and extent of any wetter conditions remains relatively low at this range."
