Woman dies following North Belfast hit and run

A woman has died and a man has been seriously injured following a hit and run collision in North Belfast.
Both pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in the York Street area in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Police say 24 year old Raven Adams, who was originally from the Tipperary area, died at the scene.
Police say the driver fled the scene and that a suspect, a 22 year old man, was later arrested in the Cavehill area.
Detective Inspector Stewart from the PSNI Collision Investigation Unit said, “He remains in police custody at this time as enquiries continue into the circumstances of what happened.”
“Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from other emergency services where medical treatment was provided to both pedestrians.”
“Sadly, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene – while the man has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.”
“The road has now fully reopened following a number of earlier closures in the area.”
