Police have been at the scene of a security alert in Newtownabbey overnight (5th September.)
Officers are advising the public to avoid the Sanda Road area.
A PSNI statement reads:
"Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in the Sanda Road area of Newtownabbey.
"Diversions are in place on the Shore Road at the junctions of Mill Road and Longwood Road.
"The public are advised to avoid the area at this time. A further update will be issued in due course."
Police have since charged a 58 year old man to before court following the security alert.
The man, aged 58, has been charged with making a petrol bomb, possession of a Class A Controlled drug, and possession of fireworks without a license.
He is due before Belfast Belfast Magistrates Court on October 3rd, 2025.
