A man has been charged over the murder of mother-of-two Amy Doherty in Londonderry.

The 28-year-old was found injured at a house in Derry on Saturday the 21st of March and later died in hospital.

The PSNI said a 30-year-old has been charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

He is due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court via video link this afternoon (Friday).

Ms Doherty’s funeral was held yesterday (Thursday) at Holy Family Church in Ballymagroarty.

Vigils are happening across the Island of Ireland this evening in memory of Amy including at Derry’s Guildhall, in Armagh and Co Donegal.
