A Bangor woman who was in Liverpool at the weekend has described the 'sheer panic,' after a car drove into crowds celebrating the football club's Premier League win.

27 people were taken to hospital, while another 20 were treated at the scene.

A man has been arrested and it's not being treated as terrorism.

Lifelong fan Colleen Patterson was over with her family celebrating at the weekend when it happened.

She says the atmosphere totally changed:

"The mood even standing watching the parade in the crowd there was footballs going over and people were playing football from one side of the road to the other and shouting and yelling and clapping and singing it was a really good atmosphere.

"Then it all totally changed to sheer panic.

"People didn't know where they were going to stay, how they were going to get out of the city."

Colleen managed to get the ferry home to Northern Ireland after a friend drove them to the port but she tells us many weren't so lucky and got stranded in the city:

"We couldn't get anyone to take us there, taxis were grounded, no one would do anything so we walked through the centre of Liverpool and it was very quiet compared to what it had been.

"It went very subdued...and it was raining heavy.

"Trying to get out of Liverpool last night, the queues for the trains, there was people queued everywhere for taxis, they closed Central Train Station, the queue was miles long and then Lime Street they closed the doors and there was just people everywhere.

"We hit the boat and the man said we have 300 passengers missing, they're not going to make it here tonight.

"We'll get you on the boat and go from there."
