Three men aged 27, 31 and 33 arrested on Friday on suspicion of theft in South Belfast have been released.

It's after commercial and business premises on the Lisburn Road were targeted several times recently.

Inspector Róisín Brown said: "Today, officers have arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of two separate thefts, criminal damage and common assault.

"A second man, aged 31, was arrested on suspicion of theft, criminal damage, possession of a Class C controlled drug and common assault.

"A third man, aged 27, was arrested on suspicion of theft, criminal damage and common assault."

Inspector Brown continued, “Recently, we had received a number of reports of thefts and drug related offences from commercial and business premises on the Lisburn Road, we understand the distress this causes to the business owners, staff and local residents.

"We are aware of the negative impact the behaviour of these suspects has had in the local community.

"We hope these arrests will now put an end to the on-going problem in the area, and allow people to go about their day-to-day business and operate their premises without concern.”
