Belfast will host a major exclusive when a 72-second, never-before-seen clip from the hotly anticipated Toy Story 5 will be presented at RENDR Festival, it has been announced.

The exclusive clip will be the centrepiece of a keynote session delivered by Pixar Animation Studios’ Dylan Sisson, who will offer behind-the-scenes insight into the studio’s creative process and the evolution of RenderMan®, its Academy Award®-winning rendering technology for VFX and feature film animation.

Dylan Sisson is a digital artist with over 25 years of experience in animation and visual effects. In 1999, he joined Pixar Animation Studios where he has been a key figure in the development of its RenderMan technology.

In addition to his role at Pixar, Dylan is an active artist exploring emerging media in VR, AI, 3D printing, and stylised rendering.

He’s one of over 30 international speakers from the worlds of film/tv, gaming, animation and immersive that will be at RENDR, which promises two nights of genre-busting technology and creative inspiration from 12-13 February in Belfast.

Among the speakers announced for the festival are: visionary filmmaker Fede Alvarez (Alien: Romulus); acclaimed director of photography Caleb Heymann (Stranger Things); Belfast-born CG supervisor James Carson, (KPop Demon Hunters); Emmy-winning VFX supervisor Jay Worth (Fallout); compositing supervisor Tobias Wiesner (The Last of Us); and more.

RENDR’s director Michael Weir said: “This is an extraordinary moment. To host an exclusive reveal of Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 in Belfast speaks volumes about our ambition as a festival and as a city at the forefront of innovation in the creative industries.”
