Air Ambulance NI’s popular 5K Runway Run is set to return to Belfast City Airport for 2026, proudly supported by principal sponsor Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure.

Taking place on Wednesday 10th June 2026, the nighttime event gives runners the rare opportunity to complete a 5K race along the runway at Belfast City Airport while raising funds to support Air Ambulance NI’s life-saving emergency medical service.

With places limited to 550 participants, runners of all abilities are encouraged to sign up early to avoid disappointment.

Colleen Milligan, Business Development & Project Manager at Air Ambulance NI, said:

“Following the incredible response to last year’s event, where we raised over £55,000, we are thrilled to be bringing the Runway Run back to Belfast City Airport for 2026. This is a special opportunity for people to support our service in a memorable and meaningful way.

“Every registration and every pound raised plays a vital role in helping the Air Ambulance reach patients when every second counts. The generosity of the public allows us to continue delivering critical care across Northern Ireland, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support.”

Air Ambulance NI relies entirely on public donations, requiring £3 million each year to remain operational.

Michelle Hatfield, Chief People and Marketing Officer at Belfast City Airport, added:

“We are delighted to once again partner with Air Ambulance NI and Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure to host this exceptional event at Belfast City Airport. The Runway Run showcases the power of community spirit and provides an unforgettable experience in an iconic setting.

“Whether participants are experienced runners, aviation enthusiasts, charity supporters or simply seeking a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, the Air Ambulance NI Runway Run 2026 promises to be a remarkable night for an incredible cause.”

Steve Turner, Managing Director at Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure, commented:

“As long-standing supporters of Air Ambulance NI, we are proud to be principal sponsor of the Runway Run once again. This event reflects our shared commitment to community wellbeing and to supporting essential services that save lives every day.

“The Runway Run offers participants an experience unlike any other, while directly contributing to the essential work of Air Ambulance NI. We are honoured to play a role in helping sustain this service.”

Participants will receive a branded technical running top, a bespoke finisher’s medal, chip-timed race results, complimentary onsite parking, pre-race warm-up and post-race refreshments, as well as dedicated fundraising support.

Prizes will also be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, alongside a special prize for the highest fundraiser.
