Fred Sirieix cycling adventure around Northern Ireland to air next week
Last updated 26th Feb 2025
TV personality and presenter Fred Sirieix was spotted in various towns and locations last year with his bicycle around Northern Ireland...and now we know why.
He was filming an exciting new TV series with ITV, Tour de Fred: Northern Ireland. Where he explores Northern Ireland's hidden gems, gorgeous landscapes and of course samples our world-renowned hospitality.
Known for his own charm on Channel 4's First Dates, this new five-part series sees Fred hop on his bike all over NI, from Newcastle to Derry/Londonderry.
Speaking about his experience filming, Fred said: "I’ve travelled quite a bit, and been to quite a few countries, but I’ve never experienced anything like I experienced in Ireland.
"Derry was a real highlight. Not only for how hospitable and welcoming the people were, but it has so much history. It was at the very heart of all the troubles but the people there just want to get on with life. They want to have a good time and they want to make people around them happy."
A self-confessed foodie, Fred thoroughly enjoyed our local delicacies along the way too.
"I really enjoyed learning how to make potato bread. That was fantastic because it's such a traditional way to cook, and it's something that people don't really do anymore and to make it so traditionally was fantastic.
"We also went swimming in the Irish Sea in November which was brilliant. Of course it’s cold, but you just get in and do it. The sea is beautiful, and when you’re in the sea in November it’s a mad thing to do but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it.
