Alex Warren shot to fame when he dropped viral single 'Ordinary' in 2025 — followed by other huge hits 'Eternity' and 'Fever Dream'. But did you know the Californian singer has already collaborated with some pretty big stars in the few years he's been on the scene?
With his debut album entitled 'You'll Be Alright, Kid' (released in 2025) and his upcoming second album 'Wildchild' so intriguingly named, it's obvious Alex has a story to tell. And tell it he does, through his ever-catchy, but meaningful song lyrics. We take a deep dive into what they all mean...
'Carry You Home'
First released in May 2024, before a remix featuring Ella Henderson dropped in August the same year, 'Carry You Home' was Alex's first single to break into the Top 10 in the UK.
It's was written for the singer's wedding in June 2024 to then-fiancée Kouvr Annon — and it's about being there for somebody for the long haul. The sweet song includes the lyrics: 'Oh, I hope you know, I will carry you home / Whether it's tonight or fifty-five years down the road / Oh, I know there's so many ways that this could go / Don't want you to wonder, darling, I need you to know.
'We were talking to the sunset / Throwing dreams against the wall / I know none of them have stuck yet / But I bet it on you, honey / Oh, I would risk it all.
'These days, these nights are changing / My love, my mind is set on you / I'm not afraid to say it / To say it's true.'
In an interview with Mix 94.7 in 2024, Alex said: "I didn't have a song for my wedding, so I wrote it." What a lucky lady!
The song peaked at Number 6 in the UK, and has since been certified 2x Platinum here.
'Burning Down'
'Burning Down' has been widely labelled a 'diss track' and is about dealing with toxic friendships. We can hear this in the lyrics:'I guess you never know, someone you think you know / Can't see the knife when you're too close, too close / It scars forever when someone you called your friend / Shows you the truth can be so cold, so cold / I'd wipe the dirt off your name with the shirt off my back / I thought that you'd do the same, but you didn't do that.'
The song, which was released in September 2024, went in to the charts at Number 35, but later had even more success after Alex released a version featuring singer-songwriter Joe Jonas — peaking at Number 23.
The song had huge success on TikTok and has since been certified Platinum in the UK. It's widely rumoured it was written about The Hype House, where Alex lived and created content in the early days of his career.
The chorus goes: 'Said I'm the one who's wanted for all the fires you started / You knew the house was burning down, I had to get out / You led your saints and sinners, and fed 'em lies for dinner / You knew the house was burning down, and look at you now / Ooh, ooh / And look at you now.'
And the spicy song continues: 'How do you sleep at night? No one to hide behind / Betrayed every alibi you had, you had, you had / Every chance to make amends instead you got drunk on bitterness / And you still claim that you're innocent.'
'Ordinary'
Alex's breakthrough hit 'Ordinary' was released in February 2025 and topped charts around the world — as well becoming a TikTok phenomenon.
Written as a love song dedicated to his wife, Alex told Hits Radio: "I was 18-years-old, sleeping in my car. And my wife, who was also 18-years-old... She would start living in my car with me.
"I had nothing and she had nothing, but we did it, she slept in the car, and we did this together. We're here together, we travel together, we have four dogs and that song is kind of like, this is what we found and it's not normal.
"That's why it's called 'Ordinary', because it's anything but."
The lyrics include: 'Oh, my, my love / I take one look at you / You're takin' me out of the ordinary / I want you layin' me down 'til we're dead and buried / On the edge of your knife, stayin' drunk on your vine / The angels up in the clouds are jealous, knowin' we found / Somethin' so out of the ordinary.'
As well as hitting Number 1 here in the UK and in countries across the world, 'Ordinary' has been certified 4x Platinum here and was nominated for numerous awards at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
'Bloodline' with Jelly Roll
This upbeat single is about Alex's brother, Grant, and it has some pretty emotional themes. 'Bloodline' — released in May 2025 — talks about breaking patterns we believe we've inherited from our parents. You'll hear that in the intro: 'Take that pain, pass it down like bottles on the wall / Mama said her dad's to blame but that's his daddy's fault / Oh, there's no one left to call.
'You stay up counting down the days 'til you make your escape / But you're afraid you can't outrun what's running through your veins / Oh, you're carrying the weight.'
Although Alex has said the story is his "brother's to tell", he has spoken openly about the hardships they both faced as youngsters — and how that affected their adult lives. Alex told American radio station 101.3 KDWB that he tries to be a good support system for his brother, saying: "There's a huge mental battle I think he had and there was something so special about a conversation I had with him and I wrote that song about that conversation."
Their strong bond is clear in the chorus: 'Oh, my brother / You don't have to follow in your bloodline / Oh, we got each other / And if you got tomorrow, then you still got time / To break the chain that left you scarred / From where you came isn't who you are / Oh, my brother / You don't have to follow in your bloodline.'
Alex collaborated with country star Jelly Roll on the track, and it reached Number 9 in the UK. It's since been certified Gold here.
'On My Mind' with Rosé
The following month, in June 2025, Alex collaborated with BLACKPINK singer Rosé to release 'On My Mind'. The catchy pop ballad is about a former flame, who still holds a little piece of the singer's heart — although it's not clear whether that's based on a real person.
That sentiment is woven right into the lyrics: 'Hidden underneath the floor / In the attic of my dreams, there's somebody I adore / I could smile, I could lie / Say, I never think about you at all, most of the time / Maybe it's the way the clouds are painted / A perfect shade of yellow all across the sky / Or maybe it's the way the times are changing / And I'm stuck in the middle, frozen in a fire / But, baby, you're on my mind.'
'On My Mind' went to Number 37 in the UK — and features on Alex's album 'You'll Be Alright Kid'.
'Eternity'
If you listen to the lyrics for 2025 single 'Eternity', you'll soon realise it's a song about grief. Alex has always been an open book when it comes to the loss of his parents in his childhood and early adulthood, but this song really lays on the line how he's been feeling in the years that have followed — especially in the post-chorus lyric 'As I walk this world alone'.
Alex penned: 'Hear the clock ticking on the wall / Losing sleep, losing track of the tears I cry / Every drop is a waterfall / Every breath is a break in the riptide / Oh, how long has it been? I don't know.
'But it feels like an eternity / Since I had you here with me / Since I had to learn to be / Someone you don't know / To be with you in paradise / What I wouldn't sacrifice / Why'd you have to chase the light / Somewhere I can't go?.'
Alex's dad passed away when Alex was just nine years, while his mother died in 2021 when Alex was in his early 20s.
The track, which was the last to be released from Alex's 'You'll Be Alright, Kid' album, went to Number 3 in the UK and has been certified Platinum.
'Fever Dream'
Alex's most recent single to take the internet by storm is 2026 single 'Fever Dream', which has QUITE the accompanying music video — starring famous face, Paris Hilton.
'Fever Dream' was inspired by Alex's wife Kouvr, and the moment they fell in love. That's evident in the words: 'Somethin' 'bout you hit me like a freight train to the chest, uh-uh / The day we met, uh-uh / My loneliness / Left the room the second that you walked in, somethin' like a fever dream.'
Alex admitted he'd been feeling lonely and vulnerable in the years before meeting Kouvr — stating 'My heart was so close to closing time' in his lyrics. But as we know, the pair fell madly in love, with Kouvr coming to join Alex as he lived from his car and chased his dreams of becoming a singer.
Despite the underlying emotional themes in the song, it's incredibly upbeat. So it's no surprise the catchy track shot up the charts to Number 3 in the UK — and is now considered a certified banger (currently Gold-selling here in the UK).
