Three people are being questioned after an assault involving suspected weapons in Newry.

Police say a man was taken to hospital after incidents in the Camlough Road and Patrick Street areas around quarter past seven on Friday night.

A man aged 31, another who's 27 and a woman in her 20s remain in custody this afternoon (Saturday).

Inspector Moore said: "We believe weapons were used during this assault at approximately 7.15pm.

"One man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

“Two men aged 31 and 27, and a 25-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, remain in custody at this time as our enquiries continue into what happened.

“Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1403 07/11/25.

“We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam, CCTV or mobile footage of area that we could review.”
