Changes announced to 2027 North West 200 race week schedule

Organisers of the North West 200 have announced changes to next year’s race schedule. This coming May qualifying will start on the Tuesday the 11th after road closures starts at 9am. During the last three seasons between 2024 and 2026 the qualifying action took place on Wednesday and Thursday. Roads will then close again at 9am on Thursday 13th for the second qualifying session followed by the opening three races on Thursday evening. The main race day will happen on Saturday 15th May with a six-race programme scheduled.

The North West 200 attracts the finest line-up of road racers of any race on the planet, drawing thousands of visitors to the iconic 8.9-mile circuit that links the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine. The sporting spectacle attracts around 100,000 visitors to the area, with the week-long programme generating millions of pounds for the local economy.

The Northwest200 also announced its title sponsor Briggs Equipment has extended its sponsorship until the sporting spectacles centenary event. ‘This is a very important development for the North West 200 as it approaches a landmark juncture in the event’s long and storied history.’ Race Director, Mervyn Whyte, said.
