West Belfast: arrest over taxi driver murder bid

A man has been arrested over the attempted murder of a taxi driver in west Belfast earlier this year.

A man has been arrested over the attempted murder of a taxi driver in west Belfast earlier this year.

Sean O'Reilly (49) , was shot twice while he sat inside his taxi in the west of the city on February 23.

On Thursday, police said they had arrested a 61-year-old man.

They said he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a property in west Belfast was searched, and a vehicle was removed from the property for further examination.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "He remains in custody at this time.

"Detectives are reiterating their appeal to anyone with information, or footage, to contact them on 101."
