Three people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing in a West Yorkshire village, which has left a man fighting for his life.

Police were called just before 10am this morning (Sunday 1st March 2026) to a report of a man with a stab injury to his body at the junction of Main Street and Iron Row in Burley in Wharfedale.

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

A 30-year-old man was arrested from a nearby address on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two women, both aged 23, have also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

All are in custody for questioning.

Police scenes remain in place on Main Street and Iron Row.

DCI Michael Cox from West Yorkshire Police, said:

“Multiple police enquiries are ongoing today into what has clearly been a very serious assault on a victim in Burley and Wharfedale.

“We realise this incident will cause concern locally, but I want to assure residents we do think this incident was isolated and targeted, and that we have all necessary resources in the area to investigate what took place.

“Police activity will continue at locations throughout the day, and we are appealing for witnesses."

Bradford District CID is appealing for information and footage as enquiries continue.
