Three firefighters and a child have been hospitalised following a significant grass fire near Stourbridge golf course in the Racecourse Lane area.
The fire, which began just before 1.30pm on Thursday 13th August, has affected several properties and spread across multiple roads.
Residents are advised to steer clear of the area, and close windows and doors if smoke impacts their homes.
Reports from 4.16pm indicated two casualties suffering from heat and smoke exposure, and disruptions to local railway services for safety.
Several properties are experiencing power interruptions due to the fire.
By 5.25pm, Stourbridge Town Hall had opened as a refuge for those displaced from their homes, with transport provided for those unable to travel independently.
As of 7.37pm, the wildfire has involved multiple houses and areas from Moreton Road to Iverley Lane, necessitating road closures due to smoke, fire and fallen trees.
West Midlands Fire Service has declared extreme demand and urges all residents to stay safe and minimise fire risks.
Chief Fire Officer Simon Tuhill spoke about the incident, citing the extreme dry conditions that led to the rapid spread of the fire.
Over 100 firefighters are actively working on scene, supported by regional services including Staffordshire and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Services.
Efforts continue as Firefighters monitor and deal with hotspots across the site as of 14th August 2026.
