Man charged with attempted murder after car hits pedestrians in west London

Five people were injured on Ealing Broadway on Saturday afternoon.

A man is due in court charged with five counts of attempted murder after a car hit people on a busy London road before allegedly driving away.

Five people were injured with three taken to hospital after the incident on Ealing Broadway, Ealing, west London, at about 2.30pm on Saturday.

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial inquiries, but it is not being treated as terrorism.

Somalia-born Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, of Grange Park, Ealing, has also been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage, the Metropolitan Police said.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

No life threatening injuries

None of the injuries were life-threatening or life-changing, and the two who were not taken to hospital received treatment at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital.”
