Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Welshpool

A murder investigation is underway after a man died in Welshpool.

Emergency services were called in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 28th June 2026) to Church Street where a man had been fatally injured.

A 22-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said:

"Dyfed-Powys Police received a report that a man had been injured on Church Street, Welshpool, at 1.16am today (Sunday, June 28).

"Officers attended with colleagues from the ambulance service, but despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, the man sadly died. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

"One man, aged 22, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

"There are road closures in place along Church Street while officers carry out enquiries, and there will be an additional police presence in the area over the coming days as the investigation continues."
