Matthew Tipton is being lined up to take over as Portadown manager.

The Warrenpoint boss tops the Ports wish list – after Niall Currie’s recent departure.

Tipton's exit was announced on the Point's website and tweeted out. In a statement, Chairman Connaire McGreevy said they had "parted ways by mutual consent following a conversation"

It is understood he has already had initial talks with Portadown.

Meanwhile, Tipton came face to face last night with Ronnie McFall, the man who took him first to Shamrock Park as a player.

But it was an unhappy reunion for him as he saw his side fall 5-0 to a revitalised Glentoran team at the Oval.

That is two wins from two for McFall and keeps the Glens in pursuit of a post-split sixth place in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Elsewhere, Linfield lost 2-0 at home to Glenavon – a defeat that left David Healy almost lost for words.

Speaking to Downtown & Cool FM after the game, he said: ā€œI’m gobsmacked how we can take a couple of steps forward and give a performance like that tonight. It was hugely disappointing.ā€

But Lurgan Blues assistant manager Kris Lindsay said they fully deserved their win and he puts Glenavon’s impressive run this season down to a mixture of youth and experiencegood run this seasonā€œLur

ā€œWe’ve steadily gone about our business,ā€ he said. ā€œWe have good young hungry players with pace and energy with a sprinkling of experience in there.

ā€œI think we have shown this season we are a good squad. We don’t have a big squad but we have a quality one.ā€

In the other two games of the night there were vital wins for Ards and Carrick over Ballymena and Dungannon Swifts respectively.
