Aberdeen have been given permission to speak to St Mirren's Northern Ireland-born boss Stephen Robinson about their vacant manager's job.

The Dons have been without a permanent one since sacking Jimmy Thelin in January, with Peter Leven in caretaker charge.

Their Scottish Cup defence ended last weekend with defeat to Dunfermline.

Robinson led St Mirren to their second cup semi-final of the season on Sunday as the Paisley side defeated Partick Thistle.

The team have already gone on to lift the League Cup with a victory over league champions Celtic in November.
