Sunshine this weekend but a cold snap is on the way next week
Last updated 20th Mar 2026
It's been great to see the return of blue skies and warmer temperatures over Northern Ireland this week, however forecasters warn that this might not last.
The Met Office suggests; 'The weekend begins on a fine and settled note for much of the UK, though it will feel cold first thing on Saturday morning.
"Northern Ireland looks set for a largely fine day, with sunny spells developing after any early low cloud clears."
"Under sunshine, values of 14 to 16°C are likely across much of England and Wales, while northern areas under cloud may stay closer to 9 to 12°C."
Cloud will thicken across Scotland and Northern Ireland during the evening, according to forecasters, with outbreaks of rain becoming more frequent.
On Sunday however, cloud will be extensive with outbreaks of rain becoming more frequent and persistent through the day.
Looking ahead to next week, colder air moving in from the northwest will bring a greater mix of weather types, including showers and stronger winds, particularly in northern and western areas.
