Weekend weather report: rain and wind set to continue
Last updated 23rd Jan 2026
Conditions across the UK look set to remain unsettled for many of us, the Met Office has confirmed.
The UK continues to sit between the influence of high pressure to the northeast, and low pressure trying to move in from the southwest - bringing with it 'further spells of rain, brisk winds and a generally grey picture.'
Saturday will be a cloudy start for most with outbreaks of rain, that should clear in the afternoon before rain continues into the evening.
Sunday will begin on an unsettled note as a band of rain moves across northern England, much of Northern Ireland, and central and southern Scotland.
Northern Ireland's five-day forecast 👇
Today: Cloudy at first with showery rain clearing north. Then a largely dry morning with bright spells. Cloudy again in the afternoon with outbreaks of rain spreading north accompanied by strengthening easterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Tonight: Cloudy and showery rain clearing north through the early evening. Then dry for a time before more cloud and rain spread north overnight. Windy at times, especially for Down coast. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
Saturday: Cloudy throughout the day with some outbreaks of rain, mainly over southern counties. Drier, brighter spells in the north in the afternoon, before rain for all in the evening. Windy. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
