Woman arrested as police recover stolen goods
Police have recovered goods worth thousands of pounds believed to have been stolen from commercial premises after the search of a property.
Detectives in west Belfast have arrested a woman following the seizure of the suspected stolen goods, counterfeit currency and suspected drugs.
Officers were alerted to a woman, 30, believed to be driving while disqualified in the Rockville Street area on Friday morning.
The vehicle was then located outside a property in the area where the driver was arrested on suspicion of motoring offences.
The PSNI said a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a “significant amount of suspected counterfeit currency”.
A search of the woman resulted in the recovery of a quantity of suspected class C controlled drugs.
Officers then searched a property in the Rockville Street area and seized a significant quantity of items worth thousands of pounds and believed to have been stolen from commercial premises on the Boucher Road and Knocknagoney Road.
The woman was further arrested on suspicion of a number of additional offences, including suspicion of possessing counterfeit currency, handling stolen goods and possession of a class C controlled drug.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The woman has since been released on police bail to allow for further inquiries. “Anyone with information that could help our inquiries or who noticed anything suspicious, including being approached by someone with suspected stolen items for resale, is asked to make contact with us.
“Counterfeit currency can also have a significant impact on local businesses and the public.
“Anyone who receives a note they believe to be counterfeit should not pass it on, but report it to police.”
