A bank holiday weather record could be broken today with parts of the UK expected to hit 34C

That top temperature is expected in Greater London and the South East of England.

Tom Morgan, a Met Office meteorologist, told the Press Association, “We rarely see temperatures above 35C, even in the summer months, so to see temperatures getting close to 35C in May is, as I say, pretty historic.””

In Northern Ireland it’s expected to be another warm and sunny day with plenty of sunshine, but with a milder top temperature expected of around 24C.

Yesterday it hit 23.4C in Armagh.
