Latest from Belfast airports after UK passengers hit by air traffic control glitch

Belfast International Airport says flights are operating to schedule this morning though some delays can be expected as the day goes on.

It comes after more than 1,000 flights were cancelled at UK airports yesterday, affecting thousands of passengers.

The under-fire boss of air traffic control company Nats has apologised for what he calls an 'unfortunate' technical problem, which has now been fixed.

Nats’ chief executive officer Martin Rolfe will speak to the Transport Secretary today as disruption is set to continue at UK airports.

A spokesperson for Belfast International Airport said “Flights are operating to schedule this morning however some delays can be expected as the day goes on.”

"If you are due to travel please check your flight status with your airline."

A spokesperson for Belfast City Airport said this morning, " “While the majority of flights to and from Belfast City Airport are operating as scheduled, there may be disruption to a small number due to the knock-on effects of NATS’ technical issues yesterday afternoon."

“Passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for further information. The latest flight updates can be viewed at belfastcityairport.com.”

On Tuesday night, Nats said on X: “This has been a very complex recovery and has created difficulties for the whole aviation network, from which it will take time to recover"

“We apologise again for the disruption caused. Passengers should check with their airline on the status of their flight tonight or tomorrow.”
