Flooding hits parts of Northern Ireland as police make appeal
Police have issued a reminder to drive with extra caution due to heavy rainfall which has hit Northern Ireland.
The PSNI said just after 10 o'clock this morning a crash on the Moneynick Road in Randalstown saw a black Range Rover hit surface water on the road and overturned.
Four people have been taken to hospital as a precaution.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Road users are advised to reduce speed and drive with extra caution given today's wet road conditions. Heavy rain has resulted in excess surface water in many areas across Northern Ireland.
Your journey may take longer than normal - please also avoid driving through flood water."
Home owners in parts of Northern Ireland have also been impacted.
SDLP Councillor Laura Devlin said: "We had a concerning morning in Newcastle where areas are flooding.
"A lot of surface water has been gushing off the mountain and into streets at the lower level.
"I would appeal to people to stay off the road as possible as traffic is compounding the issue and in some cases being the cause of flood waters entering peoples homes".
