Mournes: firefighters battling wildfires in different locations
The latest blazes are at Bloody Bridge in Newcastle
Around 80 firefighters from all over Co Down have been tackling raging wildfires in the Mourne mountains.
The latest is on Ballagh Road in the Bloody Bridge area of Newcastle.
Earlier, blazes broke out on the Slievenaman Road in the seaside town.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said it received an initial call last night before 7 o'clock.
In a statement, it added: "At the height of the incident there were approximately 80 firefighters in attendance from Newcastle, Kilkeel, Banbridge, Newry, Rathfriland, Newtownards, Warrenpoint and Lisburn Fire Stations.
"The incident is being scaled back and will be continuously monitored.
"Locals are requested to avoid the area to help support firefighting operations.
"NIFRS request the public act responsibly if you are in the countryside this weekend. If you see a fire, call 999 immediately."
