Redbull Soapbox Race returns to Belfast this weekend

It's almost time for the iconic Stormont mile to be transformed into the Redbull Soapbox Race track, as the thrilling event returns to Belfast this weekend.

30,000 spectators turned out to watch Ruddell Metals from Hillsborough take the win back in 2003, when the race last came to Belfast. But who will be this year's winner?

This unique downhill race will see 40 fearless teams go head-to-head in a gravity-powered dash for glory, piloting their own homemade soapbox machines down a purpose-built course in the shadow of one of Belfast’s most historic landmarks.

Gates for the event will open at 1 pm. The soapbox racing will be running from 2pm to 5pm. The event is completely free and no tickets are required to gain entry.

As well as lots of fun on the track, there will be plenty to enjoy around the event space, including live entertainment, food vendors and large viewing screens throughout the afternoon.

Is parking available for the Redbull Soapbox Race?

Limited parking will be available at Dundonald House within Stormont Estate on a first come first serve basis. Park & Ride services will also operate from the Glider Depot at Dunlady Road, Dundonald, with additional parking available at Dundonald High School beside the depot.

Will there be enhanced public transport services?

Yes, Translink will operate enhanced Glider (G1) and bus services (3G and 3H) for the event, connecting directly to the Event Site via Massey Avenue and the Upper Newtownards Road.

Can I travel to the event from Belfast City Centre?

Absolutely, rail and coach services arriving into Grand Central Station in Belfast City Centre connect with public transport routes serving Stormont Estate and the Event Site. Standard Translink fares will apply.
