Filming wraps for This City Is Ours series two
Series one was a huge hit!
Crime drama This City Is Ours, starring the likes of Sean Bean and Julie Graham, had viewers hooked when it landed on BBC One earlier this year, so it’s no shock it was quickly commissioned for a second series.
The show, which is set and filmed in Liverpool, is written and created by Stephen Butchard, also starring Liverpudlian actors James Nelson-Joyce and Jack McMullen. Here's everything we know so far about the second instalment, as filming wraps!
Will there be a second series?
News of the show's renewal was announced ahead of the finale being shown on TV on 11th May 2025. The BBC Press Office wrote on social media: '📢 This City is Ours is officially returning for a second series!' (sic)
Speaking about the show's success, creator Stephen said: "I can't thank the audience enough for their time and emotional investment. My heartfelt thanks also to Lindsay Salt and her wonderful team at BBC Drama for their unflinching support and continued belief in the show, our story and our characters - and not least for this opportunity to do it all over again! See you soon!"
BBC Drama Lindsay Salt added: "I'm delighted that we now get to build on this fantastic first run and show that things are only just getting started for this very special series."
Sian McWilliams, executive producer from Left Bank Pictures, then said: "After the tumultuous events of the season one finale, the gang rivalries and betrayals have escalated to new levels, new ones have just begun, and there is a lot of unfinished business."
