The Transport Secretary and MP for Swindon South has revealed she's needed hospital treatment in London after becoming unwell.

Heidi Alexander has apologised for missing events after spending what she called a 'very long Tuesday night' in A & E.

The minister managed to attend a coffee morning in her constituency this morning (Saturday 1st August 2026) - and says she intends to be back at next week.

In a social media post, the MP has also talked about being focused on tackling local and national issues.

Heidi Alexander was one of the cabinet ministers to stay in post following the transition between Sir Keir Starmer resignation as Prime Minister - and Andy Burnham starting his time in the job.
