U2 have announced the opening dates of their 2027 stadium tour, entitled Carnaval De Luz presents: The Greatest Show On Earth.
Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.’s The Greatest Show on Earth Tour follows the Friday 13th November release of the Irish band’s 16th studio album ‘Carnaval De Luz’.
Kicking off with two dates at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros in late February 2027, U2 then play two nights at Sao Paulo Estádio MorumBIS and Buenos Aire Estadio River Plate in March. Beck supports at all dates.
U2 will announce further 2027 dates for the Europe and North America in the coming weeks, including a return to their Irish homeland.
The tour shares its moniker with U2's new single 'The Greatest Show on Earth', which was co-written by Bono and Brian Eno and tells the story of lovers fighting to keep faith in each other - and faith itself.
The video is directed by Anton Corbijn and was shot in the Californian desert; it satirizes the band as a religious cult where women do all the heavy lifting.
Commenting on the tour’s bold name, U2 said: “‘The Greatest Show on Earth’? Now that's a throwdown. It's a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody's life.
“A bit of showman, a bit of shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums, and tunes you can hold onto.
“Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are.”
