The Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi is taking a “temporary break” from the band’s 2026 tour.

The New York indie legends issued a short statement on social media confirming that 45-year-old Valensi won’t be playing at their upcoming tour dates after previously sitting out several shows earlier this year.

“Nick will be taking a temporary break from the scheduled tour, but we look forward to his return,” The Strokes said.

“Holding down the guitar in the meantime is our old friend Steve Schlitz, who many of you will remember from our early NY days. We’re lucky to have him.”
