Noel Gallagher to receive top honour at The BRIT Awards
Richly deserved
Oasis legend Noel Gallagher has been named as the recipient of the Songwriter of the Year award at The BRIT Awards 2026 with Mastercard.
The BRITs Songwriter of the Year award recognises exceptional songwriting talent, and Noel is being honoured for his fabled career with Oasis and his four solo albums with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK, said: "For more than three decades, Noel has crafted songs that have become part of our collective story - bold, brilliant, and always recognisable.
“His songs have soundtracked memories for multiple generations and defined the spirit of British music globally. Honouring Noel as Songwriter of the Year celebrates a remarkable body of work and a creative force that continues to connect and inspire artists and fans worldwide.”
The BRIT Awards 2026 with Mastercard will take place on Saturday 28th February from Manchester’s Co-op Live with Jack Whitehall on hosting duties.
Olivia Dean and Lola Young lead the nominations with five nods apiece, followed closely by Sam Fender with four.
Absolute Radio is extremely proud to be promoting the prestigious Group of the Year category, which will see Pulp, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, The Last Dinner Party and Sleep Token go head-to-head.
Pulp’s Group of the Year nomination is their first nod in 30 years, while Wolf Alice are up for three awards alongside Lily Allen, Dave, Fred Again…, and Jim Legxacy.
Other notable nominees across The BRITs’ multiple categories include Geese, HAIM, Tame Impala, sombr, Lewis Capaldi, and Self Esteem.
