Here at Absolute Radio, we think it's important that we all have conversations about our mental health.

We wouldn't hesitate to tell someone we feel physically poorly, but many of us struggle to tell people when we're not in a great place mentally.

The good news is that things are changing, but it's down to all of us to end the stigma around mental health. We should all know where we can get help, and we should look out for each other. That can be as simple as having a conversation, talking about our own situation, or reaching out to someone who we think might need support.

Sometimes it's hard for people to know if we're struggling because often there are no physical signs. We'd love it if next week you could check in with a friend to make sure they're ok, and if they say they're 'fine' then check again. Sometimes it takes a bit of encouragement to start the important conversations.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week on Absolute Radio:

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from Monday 12th May to Sunday 18th May 2025.

As is now the tradition, Absolute Radio will start the week at 8.10am with a mental health monologue from Dave Berry.

The theme of this year's Mental Health Awareness Week is 'Community'. The aim is to make sure that nobody feels alone and that we all understand the power of a community in uniting to support each other.

If you need help or support around mental health, there are also lots of organisations who can help provide support:

Samaritans

Whatever you're going through, a Samaritan will face it with you. They're here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - call 116 123 for free.

CALM

CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) runs a free, confidential helpline and webchat service offering help to anyone feeling down.

Shout

Feeling anxious, stressed, or need support? Shout is free, confidential and available 24/7. Text SHOUT to 85258 to start a conversation with a trained volunteer.
