Elbow kick off Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall 2026 concert series

Bury’s finest Elbow kicked off this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall concert series with a triumphant, anthem-packed set.

Elbow’s sold-out show in front of 5,000 fans was the opening night of a week-long TCT run at the world-famous Royal Albert Hall with a line-up curated by The Cure frontman Robert Smith.

Manic Street Preachers, Placebo, Wolf Alice, Garbage, My Bloody Valentine and Mogwai are among the live acts performing in the coming days, while tonight’s comedy show features Maisie Adam, Bridget Christie, Jack Dee, Andy Hamilton, Dom Joly, Miles Jupp, Athena Kugblenu, Stewart Lee and Dara Ó Briain.

During Elbow’s headline set on Monday, frontman Guy Garvey told the audience: “So this is Elbow’s first time playing the Albert Hall.

“There's been a few through the doors over the years. The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, (Jimi) Hendrix, Muhammad Ali was here! Churchill made a few speeches. Your Wagner, your Elgar…and it's a real honour.

“Teenage Cancer Trust has been inviting us to come for years, and this is the first time we could make it work, schedule wise. And what an honour to be invited by the great Robert Smith.”

Elbow’s performance was streamed via Player+ and is available for 24 hours, with Thursday’s performance by Manic Street Preachers also set to be available for £15.99, with all profits going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
