Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl lived out his childhood dream on Friday night (2nd October) when he performed with his musical heroes AC/DC.

After supporting AC/DC for one-night-only at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri in September, last week Foo Fighters were drafted in as last-minute special guests for AC/DC’s closing Power Up tour date at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

The concert was originally scheduled for 25th September but was postponed due to a storm, meaning support act The Pretty Reckless could no longer play.

10 songs into AC/DC’s thunderous set, singer Brian Johnson told the audience: “Hey everybody, we got something to tell you. You better listen up close now. A very good friend of ours asked us today if he could come up and join us on the stage for ‘Highway for Hell.’ And we said, ‘Yes Dave, you can.’ David Grohl!”

Dave then arrived on stage to huge roars from the 82,000-strong crowd and proceeded to perform ‘Highway to Hell’ with the band, playing rhythm guitar with Stevie Young and sharing his mic.

During Foo Fighters’ set earlier in the night, Dave Grohl told the audience how much it meant to him supporting his idols for the second time in a month.

“When I was 11 years old and I went to a midnight movie, and I saw the Let There Be Rock movie in the f--king movie theatre, at 11 years old, I didn’t know that rock n’ roll could be like that. I didn’t know that rock n’ roll was sweat and blood and f—king tears and every ounce of energy you had.

“I saw that movie, I was 11 years old, I said, ‘I want to do that for the rest of my f---king life.’ So here we are… I’m going to live my childhood dream again, tonight.”

AC/DC have no more shows planned beyond the Power Up Tour, however Brian Johnson told the audience at the end of the set in New Jersey: “Good night, hope we’ll see you again.”
