2.COMPETITION MECHANIC AND HOW TO WIN
There could be up to 6 six winners of this competition. The contest will take place every day from Monday 29th June 2026 through to Friday 3rd July 2026 and between the hours of 16:00 and 19:00.
Between Monday 29th June 2026 and Friday 3rd July 2026 the presenters of the Absolute Radio Hometime Show will invite people to call the number specified above, asking if they would like the chance to take part in the “Competition” called ‘Fix and Fall’. All specific timings for this ‘call out’ to play the game will be provided by the presenters within the 16:00 – 19:00 show time window. 1 caller will be selected at random from the pool of phone entries to play each day.
The competition will play out as follows:
Monday – Thursday’s Competition Rounds
There will be one contestant brought to air each day to play the game. Just for getting to air they will win a fixed amount of £1,000. They will be able to ‘bank’ that and be unable to lose it. This is ‘phase one’ of the competition. ‘Phase one’ will happen every day regardless of the outcome of phase 2. The prize amount will always stay the same for phase one at £1,000.
After ‘phase one’ of Monday’s competition round there will then be another £1,000 to be won, this will be known throughout these terms as ‘phase 2’ of the competition.
For ‘phase 2’ the contestant will be told by the presenter/s of two objects that they will have recorded being dropped from height up on a cherry picker platform of 20 metres (this height is subject to change*) prior to the on-air drivetime show. The presenters will have noted down which object hit a target on the ground first.
The listener will not know the outcome and will need to try and guess which object out of the two hit the target first to win the second part of the cash prize.
If they guess correctly, they will win the second £1,000 taking their total winnings to £2,000.
If the entrant gets it wrong, they will not win the second £1,000 and it will roll-over to ‘phase 2’ of the competition on the following day.
On Tuesday’s round, the competition process will then follow the same pattern as Monday. The contestant will receive £1,000 for being selected to come to air, which will see ‘phase one’ complete.
When they then come to play ‘phase 2’ it will be the same challenge criteria as on the Monday, two different objects will be dropped from the same height and they need to guess which object hits the target first.
During ‘phase 2’ on the Tuesday however, they will either be playing for an extra £1,000 (taking their total winnings to £2,000) or £2,000 (taking their total winnings to £3,000) depending on whether any prize fund rolled over from Monday’s competition round.
We will then follow this same pattern of winning across the week Monday to Thursday. This would either be rolling over any monies accumulated from ‘phase 2’ to the following day, if a previous contestant gets the challenge wrong. Alternatively, resetting the winnings for the next day back to a £2,000 total (£1,000 for phase one and £1,000 for phase 2), if the contestant from the previous day was successful on ‘phase 2’ of the competition.
Friday Competition Round
Friday's competition round will be different to the Monday to Thursday rounds. For this round, two callers will be selected and brought to air. For "phase one", both callers will win £500 just for coming to air. This is banked for both callers. The caller who was randomly selected first will choose which item they believe will land first when dropped from the height on the cherry picker. The second caller will automatically be assigned the other item. Whoever's item lands first will win the rolled over prize. If there is no rolled over money, they will just win the remaining £1000.
Across the week there will be a total of £10,000 prize money won. This will be split into different daily amounts however, depending on how the game and the cash roll-overs play out.
Please Note: The objects will vary, therefore making them travel at different speeds. The judge’s’ (the ‘Judge being the Absolute Radio production team) decision is final regardless of the accuracy of the 5 different daily ‘drops’. This game is not designed to be a precision experiment and will be judged by the human eye. The judge’s decision is final and at any point they reserve the right to not award a prize.
The contestant will only be deemed a winner, upon being selected and then being told by the presenter and the Absolute Radio production team that they are a winner. Please note that the Absolute Radio production team reserve the right to amend the competition mechanic at any point should they deem it necessary.
There may be points within the process that the Absolute Radio production team pre-record elements of the competition and play it out ‘as live’.
The studio call in number will be given on air and can also be found above and below in Section 1. The Competition is also subject to additional terms and conditions available here: https://www.bauerlegal.co.uk/competition-general-terms-and-conditions-20230711
