Firefighters tackle boat blaze in Penryn

Crews respond swiftly to early morning fire

Fire crews have responded to a boat fire in Penryn.

The blaze, just after midnight, prompted Cornwall Fire & Rescue to mobilise two fire engines from Falmouth and one from Tolvaddon to the scene.

On arrival, the firefighters found a boat, approximately 8 metres in length, engulfed in flames.

To combat the fire, crews wore breathing apparatus and employed two main jets, successfully extinguishing the blaze.

In a statement, they said: "At 00:22 Fire Control mobilised two appliances from Falmouth and one from Tolvaddon, to reports of a boat on fire.

"Once in attendance firefighters discovered one boat, approx 8 metres in length, well alight.

"Crews used breathing apparatus and two main jets to extinguish the fire."
